Health and Safety for New Entrants – 18 May 2026
All New Entrants working aboard any UK commercial fishing vessel of any size are required to have completed an approved Basic Health and Safety Course for Fishermen.
This course aims to provide new entrants to the industry with the knowledge and skills they require to work safely on fishing vessels.
The course covers:
Knowing your vessel
Understanding roles and responsibilities
Maintaining operations
Working safely on a fishing vessel
Dealing with emergencies
