Axis 1 – Fishing Vessel Modernisation
Inboard and outboard engine replacements – the grant will cover one engine per vessel only. The grant rate is 40%, you need 3 quotes, the old engine is yours to dispose of and not included in the grant. The new engine must be identical or less power than the existing engine. Minimum grant is £500 and maximum is £60,000.
Vessel improvements – the grant will cover a wide range of items with a 60% grant. These include haulers for improving quality of catch and safety to crew, AIS, non slip flooring, safety rails, life jackets, protecting conveyors,m life rafts, hygiene facilities, ice boxes and insulation of fish holds. Minimum grant is £500 and maximum is £60,000. *Note, once life jackets become a legal requirement this fund will not be eligible for them.

Axis 2 – Fish Processing and Aquaculture
Over £5 million is being invested in companies in England which carry out fish processing or fish farming. Funding is available to help small to medium-sized processing and aquaculture companies save up to 40% of the costs of expanding their business. To qualify for funding, products need to be destined for human consumption, either directly as food, or for other purposes such as feed for farmed fish.

AXIS 3 – Measures of Common Interest
covers a wide range of activities for fishermen working together and support for harbour and port infrastructure. The grant rate for AXIS 3 can be up to 75% with a minimum £600 grant up to £500,000 with up to £2m for ports.

AXIS 4 – (FLAG) Sustainable Development Of Fisheries
Fisheries Local Action Group, its very flexible and covers a very wide range of activities, it has its own local activities and area of support linked to a strategy and a delivery plan. It covers investments and repairs in covers and small harbours, davits fish retail, community projects, retail and supports fish fishermen to add value. Festivals and community fish focused events, fishermen’s lofts, stores, net mender etc. Most grants are 50% but fisherman’s associations and groups working together can achieve a higher rate of 75%.
