All commercial fishermen working aboard a vessel of any size are required to hold a certificate in First Aid at Sea.
New Entrant fishermen are required to complete an MCA approved First Aid course and Fire Fighting course within 3 months of completing the Sea Survival course. New Entrants should also complete the mandatory Health and Safety Course, experienced fishermen should complete the Safety Awareness course instead.

Continual assessment.
Course Aim:
To introduce fishermen to the principles of first aid so that they can keep casualties alive until medical assistance can be obtained.
By the end of the training participants will:
Be able to apply effective first aid
Be able to perform effective CPR
Be able to recognise life threatening conditions
Know how to call for appropriate assistance.
This course has been designed and has been approved to conform to the requirements laid down by the MCA.
All our instructors have been approved by the Seafish Industry Authority.
Course Certificate:
The Seafish Industry Authority on behalf of the MCA will issue a course certificate to those who complete the course successfully.
