Description
Seafish Approved Trainer/s: Micky Ringwood and Mike Collier
A one day course intended for skippers of vessels less than 16.5m and anyone taking a navigational watch on any vessel.
Mandatory: No - Voluntary at present
Under 16.5m Skippers Ticket
Successful completion of this 1 day stability course together with completion of the 2 or 5 day navigation and watchkeeping course, 1 or 2 day engineering course and the GMDSS Short Range (Radio Operators) Certificate will complete the overall requirements for the Under 16.5m Skippers Ticket certificate which the MCA proposes to make mandatory in 2010.
Funding:
Thanks to support from the Department for Transport and the European Fisheries Fund, Seafish is currently able to fund the tuition fee for this course for experienced fishermen providing they hold certificates in Sea Survival, First Aid, Fire Fighting and Safety Awareness. Description
On arrival in Newlyn, please park in the Newlyn Harbour Car Park and ensure you purchase a full day ticket.
Make your way to the Fishermen's Mission by turning right out of the harbour car park and walk back through the village with the Fish Market on your right hand side.
The Fishermen's Mission will then be on your right after 50 yards.
Training will take place upstairs in the Chapel.
