All commercial fishermen need to hold an MCA approved certificate in Basic Fire Fighting.
New Entrants should complete Fire Fighting training within 3 months of gaining certificates in Sea Survival and Health and Safety.

Examination Type:
Continual assessment.

MCA Compliance:
This course has been designed and has been approved to conform to the requirements laid down by the MCA.
All our instructors have been approved by the Seafish Industry Authority.

Course Certificate:
The Seafish Industry Authority on behalf of the MCA will issue a course certificate to those who complete the course successfully.

Course Aim:
To introduce fishermen to the basic principles of fire fighting so that they have the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to fight fires at sea.

By the end of the training participants will:
Understand the principles of fire fighting
Understand how to use basic fire fighting equipment
Have developed the practical skills needed to successfully operate basic fire fighting equipment.

Description

On arrival in Newlyn, please park in the Newlyn Harbour Car Park and ensure you purchase a full day ticket.
Make your way to the Fishermen's Mission by turning right out of the harbour car park and walk back through the village with the Fish Market on your right hand side.

The Fishermen's Mission will then be on your right after 50 yards.
Training will take place upstairs in the Chapel.
