16.5m Skippers Ticket

In addition to the mandatory basic training requirements, Seafish has developed a number of additional short courses.
These include 2- and 5-day navigation courses, 2- and 5-day engineering courses and a 1-day intermediate stability awareness course. Together with the GMDSS Short Range (Radio Operator) Certificate, these courses make up the proposed requirements for skippers of vessels less than 16.5m, which MCA proposes to make mandatory in 2010.
Thanks to support from the Department for Transport, Seafish is currently able to fund these courses for experienced fishermen.
