Training Grants for Fishermen to complete >16.5m Skipper's Ticket and Certificates of Competency
Grants are now available for fishermen's training following the recommencement of funding from Seafish, The European Fisheries Fund and the Dept. For Transport.
How do they work? Individual grants are available through Seafish Approved Training Providers eg. Seafood Cornwall Training, to support fishermen undertaking courses towards the 16.5m Skippers Ticket allowing fishermen to attend these courses free of charge.

- 2-day and 5-day (Seafish) Bridge Watchkeeping courses
- 1-day (RYA) Engineering course
- 2-day and 5-day (Seafish) Engineroom Watchkeeping courses
- 30-hour (MCA) Diesel Engine course
- 1-day (Seafish) Intermediate Stability course
- 1-day (RYA) GMDSS SRC course
- 0.5 day (Seafish) Damage Control workshop
Grants of up to £1000 are also available for fishermen undertaking MCA Fishing Vessel (Deck and Engineer Officer) Certificates of Competency. Fishermen need to apply for these grants direct to Seafish although Seafish Approved Training Providers can assist you with your application.
