Following the recommendation made to Seafish by MAIB in their Fishing Vessel Safety Study (which can be found by  clicking here) Seafish have produced this  industry_advisory_note_-_potting_safety_12_may_2010.pdf

The advisory note summarises the available information on potting related incidents and provides guidance on safe practices.

Seafish was recommended to:
2008/178 Conduct research into the present methods of potting with a view to identifying improvements in technology and procedures to reduce the current high incidence of accidents and fatalities within this sector.
