CATch-Fish and SEAFISH are happy to announce this years training course in Trawl Technology to be held at the North Sea Centre Science Park, Denmark. In fact two courses will be held during the autumn. They both give a detailed insight into the construction and optimal use of different trawls as well as energy consumption, selective properties, performance, legal and practical aspects of technical measures etc. etc. - for people who in their professional life requires a high level knowledge of the trawl gear. They have slightly different target groups, but if you cannot make it for one of the courses, the other will certainly also be an option. The first takes place August 22 - 26 for people from the industry fishing, fishers, fleet managers, gear designers, net manufacturers etc. The other takes place October 24 - 29 for gear technologists, fisheries biologists as well as fisheries college lecturers etc. etc. Whether you are fishing with trawls, managing a fishing fleet, selling trawls, teaching students about them or you are using them as a sampling tool or a research object you are likely to gain from the courses and get a new perspective on this - often controversial - fishing gear. If you are interested, please consult the homepage for details and an application form: www.catch-fish.net These are the same courses which Ulrik Jes Hansen has managed for SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture since 1999, and the SINTEF flume tank is still an important facility for the courses. Today Ulrik have formed CATchFish and cooperate with SEAFISH, UK. The deadline for the application is about 5 weeks before the course. The number of participants are limited. Hoping to seeing you in Hirtshals. Yours sincerely Ulrik Jes Hansen, CATch-Fish and Mike Montgommerie, SEAFISH
