FISHERMEN'S TRAINING IN MEVAGISSEY

16.5m Skippers Ticket

The MCA intends to make the 16.5m skippers ticket mandatory during 2010 and due to a high demand from Mevagissey fishermen, Seafood Cornwall Training are running the following courses (forming part of the ticket), in Mevagissey during the month of May:

UNDER 16.5m TICKET COURSE DATES (TUITION FREE*)
To be held in the Mevagissey Social Club.
• 2 day Navigation & Watchkeeping*                  12th / 13th May
• GMDSS VHF SRC* (£30 RYA license fee)       19th May
• Online Engineering* (£25 exam fee)                  Mornings of 12th / 19th May

ENGINEERING - Online and Practical Courses

Online Course:
The final exam is made up of 25 multiple choice questions and costs £25. In order for us to invigilate final online assessments in Mevagissey on the above dates, anyone wishing to complete their assessment with us on that date will first need to register their login details with Seafish on www.seafisheacademy.co.uk

Practical Two Day Course:
A course been scheduled for 26th & 27th May for those requiring a practical taught course. Please contact us for more info.

FUNDING
*Fishermen wishing to complete courses making up the under 16.5m skipper's ticket can receive funding to cover their tuition fees PROVIDING they hold all four mandatory basic training certificates and Seafish have a record of them.

These courses are:
Sea Survival
Fire Fighting
First Aid*
Safety Awareness
*(Please check with us the validity of your 1st Aid certificate, as older St John's ones may need updating)
